I hated it because I knew I was good at what I was doing.

I knew the business owners who’d buy my service would get amazing

results with what I was doing.

But nobody was willing to give me a chance.

And I knew that if nothing changed, I would have to completely give up on my new passion and my dream of running my own business.

I had goals, dreams and aspirations...

I wanted more out of life......

But with no-clients my success chances were slim.

So I did what everyone else out there does in this situation.

I started looking for a way out.

I looked everywhere and a few months later I found it.

I stumbled upon a forum where a group of guys and gals were talking about how they were "building personal brands" and they were getting people to come to them to buy services and coaching.

This was way before everyone was building a personal brand.

So this was a cool concept to me, and as I researched more and more I found that most of them were just like me.

They also worked normal jobs before starting.

They also didn’t have a long list of past clients or huge portfolios.

They also didn’t have money to invest in paid traffic.

The only difference was they knew how to go viral on social media.

Most of them were posting content on Instagram or creating videos for

YouTube.

So after a bit more research I started doing the same.

And after 6 months of waiting…

It actually worked.

I got my first client.

I was on the top of the world.

This meant I didn’t have to work a job anymore because I had a business that was working.

And while I didn’t generate millions in revenue, it was enough for me to consider it a viable option and give it my best shot.

And I did that for some time.

But a few years ago it became harder than it has ever been.

I tried doubling down on content.

Didn’t make much of a difference.

I tried changing platforms - went from Instagram to YouTube.

And for a while it worked…

Until all of the calls I was getting on were with people trying to start selling the same service as me.

I tried paid ads, which worked too but was killing our profit margins and was too stressful to manage long-term.

I tried doing mass outreach with full-time VAs, but that only led me to burning through 27 Facebook accounts.

Not joking.

I got banned on 27 different Facebook accounts for spam, even though everything was done manually.

And not even that generated enough clients.

And then it occurred to me:

Online business wasn’t the obscure thing it was before.

More and more people are starting to catch on and become competition.

So I tried migrating to Twitter/X, where I thought the competition would be lower.

And it worked well for a while.

Until Elon decided to play with the algorithm and killed everybody’s reach.

So I decided to post my Twitter content on LinkedIn too - because why not.
